
Quick & Easy Matcha Green Tea Scrub
Green tea is well known for its gentle healing properties because it is very rich in antioxidants. It has been used in beauty regimens for thousands of years. Not only has it been shown to help delay or reduce signs of aging and wrinkles, it’s excellent for exfoliation, hydration and softer skin too.
A green tea scrub makes a great handmade gift. It is very simple to make and will keep in a tightly closed decorative jar for up to 3 months.
ingredients to make the matcha sugar scrub
- organic cane sugar
- jojoba oil or coconut oil
- loose leaf green tea
- matcha green tea powder
- Close lid jars
- Card or label stock
Step 1: Mix the dry ingredients
In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the green tea leaves, sugar, and matcha green tea powder.

Step 2: Add the carrier oil
Slowly add one tablespoon of jojoba oil to start, and increase it gradually to get to the desired consistency. If using coconut oil, melt the coconut oil on the stove or in the microwave. Once melted, pour into the bowl with the sugar and tea and mix well.

Step 3: Package the sugar scrub
Scoop the mix into an 8 ounce jar or two 4 ounce jars. Seal the jar with an airtight lid.
Wipe down the jar and let dry for a few minutes. Next, add your custom sugar scrub label.

To use your green tea scrub, open the jar, and give it a good stir. Next, wash your hands and apply it to your face and neck with your fingers. Gently massage the scrub in a circular motion for a minute or two. Finally, use a soft washcloth dipped in warm water and pat your face to remove all the sugar scrub.
Most facial and body scrubs can be used 1 – 2 times per week. However, test a small patch to start to see what works best for you.
